The depth of commitment and artistry is the result of years of experimentation, trials and errors, dreams and disappointments.
Innovation in a world of single malt tradition requires courage and bravery.
The tsukuriwake approach, with its emphasis on diversity in production, is at the heart of Yamazaki.
Creating with vision; Using ingredients, maturation, woods and processes to expand and explore the full range of what a single malt can be.
In particular, Yamazaki's water and aging process result in a sweetness that balances the smoke and truly embodies tsukuriwake, which goes beyond the choice of ingredients to the process and place of soul, all of which combine to create the taste of Yamazaki.

Yamazaki Golden Promise
Golden Promise, first cultivated in Scotland in the 1960s, Golden Promise barley is an exceptional grain.
Golden Promise's use was borrowed from Scotch, first distilled in 2009 and aged in American oak barrels, resulting in a Yamazaki that is equally malty and rich.
Often used as a base for Yamazaki flagships such as the 12 Years Old, this well-rounded liquid stabilizes the flavor of Yamazaki when combining it with others such as Mizunara and Spanish Oak liquids.

Introducing 2024 Peated Malt,
The Peated Malt is part of “Tsukuriwake” Hakushu - the art of diversity in whiskey production.
Different types of malt as well as fermentation, distillation and maturation techniques form the basis for House of Suntory's legendary "Art of Blending".
This diversity allows House of Suntory to produce more than 100 different malt whiskeys at the Hakushu distillery. Throughout our long history with this malt, blenders have found that the climate and age of Hakushu are key to developing the distinctive flavor of this unique ingredient, typically known as a strong and distinct smoky note.
A long aging period in the land of Hakushu, where the water is exceptionally pure and soft, reveals the Japanese smoke, which is spicy and peppery.
A slow and deliberate wave of clean smoke that deepens as it reveals Hakushu's signature herbaceous, mineral notes and fruity undertones of ripe apples.
Following on from our previous editions, where peated malt was considered a key element for Hakushu, we invite you on a journey of endless possibilities to experience the development and refinement of Japanese peated malt whiskeys.
